Course Overview

Join the Debate Course To Improve Your Speaking and Critical Thinking Skills!

In this course, students will practice their public speaking skills, think critically, and learn how to form and create arguments about selected topics in a respectful manner with their peers.

Why learn how to debate?

Learning how to debate and develop persuasiveness can help children improve their research skills, which also allows them to broaden their minds on a variety of topics.  Exploring different debate topics and listening to different opinions allow for children to view a range of perspectives that not only teach them to listen and understand different opinions but also help them build self-esteem and let them know that their voice matters.

Together, students will be able to debate about topics including:

  • Are video games good or bad for you?
  • Are uniforms important for school?
  • Is homework needed?
  • And more!

What You’ll Do:

  • Learn how to debate
  • Broaden view of various topics
  • Practice critical thinking and methods of persuasion by debating with peers
  • Broaden English speaking skills amongst peers
