Prepare for your Trial Lesson

Let’s get ready for your first lesson! First, let’s make sure our devices are working.

Device Check

To be able to take your classes effectively, you should have one of these following devices:

Browser Check

The GSA Online service is certified to work with Google Chrome.

We highly recommend using Chrome as your primary browser to take your GSA Online classes.


Other browsers that you may use include:

*Please note: We do not recommend using Firefox; Internet Explorer cannot be used.


Zoom Check

First, make sure that you have downloaded Zoom onto your desktop or device.

Visit our System Requirements page.

If you have Zoom downloaded already, make sure your Zoom app is up to date by opening Zoom, click zoom.us, and click ‘Check for Updates’

How To Log Into Your GSA Account

Access our website and enter your email and password used when registering for our service on the login page.



About Your Trial Lessons

  1. Please be sure to check the dates and times of your lesson; the trial lessons are marked as "reserved" on your account.
  2. If you need to reschedule, please reschedule up to 24hours before your lesson time. You can reschedule up to twice for the same lesson. If you reschedule twice, the option to reschedule will be gone and you can only cancel (to be absent) from the lesson. No make up lesson will be available.
  3. If it's within 24 hours of your lesson starting time, the reschedule button will no longer show, instead there will be a "cancel" button in which you can press if you can't make it to the lesson and you'd like to let us know you'll be absent.


Please note:

If you reschedule to dates after your first charge date, however wish to not continue, you must reschedule it to within your trial period to take the lessons. If you do not reschedule to within your trial period, the lesson will be cancelled and you will not be able to take those lessons.

Your first lesson will be a level check lesson, after the level check lesson, we will notify you of the level within couple days after your level check.



How To Join Your Lesson

Please press "Enter Lesson" approximately 2 minutes before your lesson.

No Meeting IDs or passcode necessary. Please click on the button, then the pop up will show asking if it's okay to open with Zoom, please proceed and open the link with Zoom.

Lesson Flow

Upon the start of your class, your child will be greeted by their teacher and be asked how your child’s day was, what they have done today, and other basic conversation questions. Your child can respond in simple sentences to the best of their ability.

Here are some example questions your teacher may ask:

*Depending on the program, the teacher will have your child turn to a page in their textbook, make sure that they have your course kit ready, or review their homework from the last class.


Main Lesson Activities

For the majority of class time, your child will be working on building up their skills!


Lesson Conclusion

By the time it is about 5 minutes to the end of class, the teacher will review what your child has learned and preview any homework for them to complete by their next class. The teacher will then congratulate your child for working hard in class, and say goodbye. The Zoom classroom will come to a close, and your child is done with the class!

*When there is a technical issue, teachers first notify our Student Relations team, who will then assist the teacher and the student by call or by entering the lesson directly to speak to the student/guardian. They will then speak to the teacher about the issue and how to proceed.


After Class

After class is finished, you will be sent an email confirming that the class has been completed. Within the email, you will find notes from the teacher about what your child excelled with, what improvements are needed to build up their skill, and what the next class will be.

*Please keep in mind that these emails can be expected to be sent either directly after class or several hours afterwards; class completion emails are sent when the teacher finalizes the class notes.

For any homework given, you can access it on your Schedule page.


Homework

To access, go to your name, and a drop down menu will appear. Hover your cursor over Homework, and another drop down menu will appear.

Choose the program and you will find directions of the homework, and where to submit the homework after you have completed it.

*Please note: Students who are enrolled in the ELA Standard program will receive their Our World textbook and student workbook after their first charge date.

*During your child's free trial, you can take a trial lesson in another course. Please contact the Student Relations team about what course you would like to schedule a trial lesson for and then they will check to see if the student is eligible to try the course.



Lesson Days/Times After Your Trial Is Completed

Your reservations after the charge date will have the same schedule if you do not change your learning plan prior to your charge date.

There will be reserved classes which aligns with your learning plan that is set. If you need to change the days, times, frequency, please make the changes on your learning plan 6 days prior to your charge date to be reflected to your schedule for the next month.

The lessons will be "booked" once you are charged, and lessons that were reserved will automatically change to "booked" on the day of your charge around 10:30pm.

How To Change Your Learning Plan

(ex:) First charge date is July 15th. The schedule for lessons happening between July 16th~August 15th can be changed from your account by July 9th.

※You cannot choose your teachers, as we operate with student schedule frequency, days, and times. 。

※The system will automatically book for 4 weeks of lessons after your charge date, depending on the day you choose, you might have a 5th week, but the system will only book for 4 weeks.

※You must at least take one ELA lesson every week.

※There is a chance of the student being waitlisted depending on the subject, day, and time the lesson is supposed to happen.

※There are lessons using different amount of coins which will result in change of your overall monthly payment.




Deadline To Request Termination Of Membership

If you wish to withdraw from our service before your first charge, please let us know by 3 days prior to the charge date by email or phone.

We will consider the submission date as your dropout request date, so if it is sent to us after business hours, we will still be taking a look at it on the next business day.

If you do not contact us by 3days prior to the charge date, we will not be able to process your request until the next charge date. If the lesson fee was charged and lessons were all made, we would not able to refund.
